Opened in 2004 to provide a high quality
large performance space in an extensive area which had lost many church halls,
large cinemas and other facilities over the previous years.
The basis of
the professional programme was developed at The Bull Theatre - Barnet which it
outgrew.
Childrens theatre shows are at noon and 3pm most Sundays and throughout holiday weeks.
Amateur and local groups supplement the programme with hires, and there are clubs and classes for all ages in purpose built studios.
Many local schools and organisations are involved in ongoing projects, including those catering for disabled and disadvantaged groups from across the Borough.
The Pentland Theatre

Adjustable staging to allow for tiered seating with side seats and a balcony.
Can be converted to a flat floor open space or a blank canvas for dinners and trade shows
The Studio Theatre
Seats about 150
Wrapping around the stage creating an intimate atmosphere.
The studio can be used for any type of theatre style event.
The Apthorp Gallery
High ceilings - movable walls and polished floor.
Ideal for Exhibitions - Product Launches and Private Receptions - There are smaller spaces and walls available for local artist exhibitions.
Education Space
The Art - Drama and Dance space offers additional possibilities to your event.
Utilised for Workshops - Away days - Rehearsals or Breakout spaces.
Cafe - Bar
If you’re looking for a relaxing afternoon cuppa or a quiet space for your meeting, enjoy artsdepot’s café. Try some of the delicious fresh cakes and pastries, sample our speciality and fair trade coffees and teas, and browse a free Independent newspaper.
At lunch-time choose from a delicious range of fresh home-made soups, toasted panini or something more substantial from the daily specials board.
Children are very welcome – the café has a soft play area where they can have fun while you relax and catch up with friends.
(You can also treat your little ones to a tasty bite from our special children’s menu).
The building is run by The Arts Depot
Trust which is an RFO (a regularly funded organisation by the Arts Council
of England) and other trusts and by the London Borough of Barnet.
Regular users are encouraged to be a
Friend (£35 annually), a Family Friend (£60) or a Best Friend
(£100).
For every £1 spent at arts depot 82p goes directly back
into supporting the local community.
To publicise the programme there
are separate brochures for the theatre programme and professional work and for
the family and children's shows and community events, as well as a general
diary.
The building is shared with Barnet College dance and theatre
courses and with Community Focus who include many clubs and classes for the
elderly and disabled
