Events Round-up Spring

Despite a difficult fnancial outlook, the local societies and the Festivals continue to offer a wealth of wonderful entertainment.

BBAC'S Drama Festival
Has spread its wings to encompass an area in North London from Wembley across to Cheshunt through March to May and all of the companies produced a very high standard in competing for the trophies for best production, best actor and actress, best newcomer, and best design.

Music Highlights
Include concerts by the London Pro Arte Choir

Arts Centres
Arts depot, The Bull Theatre and All Saints Arts Centre each present a varied programme with easy local access and at prices well below the West End. They also offer a big range of classes, as do The Institute in their new building near East Finchley Station and at Community Focus in the Artsdepot building.

BBAC Art and Information Exhibition
At The Spires in Barnet, display the work of local artists with a display of leaflet information on What's On from the 100 or so member societies, and had East Barnet Festival leaflets, including Theatre in the Park.
BBAC Art exhibitions continue in The Spires for a week each May, September Autumn Film and early December

Festivals
It's now coming to the start of their programmes for summer events in the parks, and as usual opportunities will be created for charity, community, craft and commercial enterprises to book a stall or support the entertainment.
Last year more businesses took part than in previous years before to meet the wide spectrum of the thousands of people who made new contacts at these events
Volunteers to assist are always welcomed and can acquire insight and training into organising activities by acting as stewards and helpers, selling raffle tickets or refreshments, or working backstage
All can be recognised as work experience and it is a great way to meet new friends
Let's hope the weather is as kind as it was at the East Barnet Festival, and for the Barnet High Street Christmas Fair 2009.
